Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is highly beneficial in terms of stress relief. It releases the bodies own healing mechanisms and stimulates them into action.
Many people undergoing therapy find that if the mind and body can be relieved of their tensions, a feeling of increased energy and general well-being is developed and promoted. Additional benefits seen are that aches and pains are gently massaged away, circulation is improved, and fluid retention decreased.
Aromatherapy uses essential oils to assist the bodies natural healing processes. Members receiving treatment have reported that their psychological, emotional, and spiritual state have all improved. When linked with massage as they are in aromatherapy, the oils can have a profound effect on the activities of the Nervous System. It is in this area that our members find most benefit.
The Therapist at the Centre uses three basic groups of oils.
Analgesic Oils
This group have the effect of reducing or easing painful areas by damping down the level of activity of the pain transmitting nerve endings.
Anti-spasmodic Oils
This group of oils increase muscle control by working on the nerves that trigger muscle activity.
Sedative Oils
These oils have the generally beneficial effect of reducing over-activity within the nervous system.
Further to the above, other oils are available which act as a tonic for the nervous system and increase muscle tone.
